ALICE LIVE ACTION
Alice Through the Looking Glass was a fun exploration in iconic imagery for each character and their unique personalities and costume design. I loved working on these boxes because the liner was the most impactful part of the project. We have full visibility of the dolls and I loved to play up the full visibility aspect because oftentimes the shoes would usually be covered.
UNIT PHOTOGRAPHY
One of the biggest issues of working on a film is not having photography in time for the packaging. I pulled unit photography which is basically the shots from the set before CGI and final coloring is applied to the film. So each of these liners is from set photography that I retouched to fit the final film. Part of these were actually green or blue screened and I replaced those parts. The sky behind Alice is fake. I also created the watch face for the trade dress of the box. Each image of the characters on the back is also unit photography. A lot of photoshop on this project! Each liner is a pop up scene of pivotal moments in the film that represent the environments of each character.
ANNE HATHAWAY
I loved all the fashion in this movie. Anne Hathaway is so gorgeous in this film. I loved the pop up on this one the best with the grandfather clock and the distorted checkered floor that is so symbolic of Alice to me. This is the second Alice Live Action movie but also the second one I worked on and we wanted to make it different but also has to be iconic and have some tidbits of the original film.
