CRUELLA FILM Packaging
I must say, working on this film, a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into all the iterations of this packaging, this has to be one of my favorite projects I art directed at Disney. Growing up in the punk scene in Los Angeles, I wanted to do it justice since it was a heavy theme in the film, and my amazing teammate who worked on this with me couldn’t have been a better partnership. We went through many iterations of rips, drips, sketches, and spray paint to get the right textures and tones. Working on a lot of these films, we see very limited photography, so at the end of the process it can really make or break the design. This ended up working out to our advantage.
Cruella LIMITED EDITION
Along with licensing, at the time I was also working on the owned and operated business in tandem. The Disney owned & operated side of the business we created unique and specialty packaging for Disney Stores (at the time), ShopDisney and Disney Parks. We created the branding and packaging guides for both sides of the business as well as the production and printing reviews on all the owned and operated products.
This Cruella Live Action Limited Edition Doll had a lot of back and forth about the balance between the opulent and the chaotic, the amount of splatters and sketches. We printed this on matte metallic paper to give the silver framing a sheen under masking out the solid colors.
